For God so Hates the World

It had been only 48 hours since  Amanda's 1st boyfriend said, "I just want to be friends".  Only two weeks had gone by since she lost her grandmother who had practically raised her.  To top it off, Amanda was still in pain over her parents divorce which would be finalized in three days.  As she sat in the bathroom, on the English hall, she only thought about two things:  "I do not want to keep living and why does God hate me".

Have you ever thought God hated you?  Have you ever wondered why your the "only" one having "issues"?  Have thoughts of suicide ever entered your mind?  Come on now its just us.  Chances are you have.  Chances are that maybe you haven't had the same "issues" as Amanda but your issues are just as painful to you.  Whether you are 12 or 52 their is one need of every human on this planet.  It sounds simple but it is true (Most things that are true are simple).  Every human on this planet desires deeply to be LOVED.  I have read that most orphan babies who die in their crib do so because of their need to be held.

If we were honest we would say the same thing.  We want to be loved.  I read something today that really caught my eye.  It was from the book of Jeremiah (in the Bible).  It was the 31st chapter and verse 3.  It says, (you may want to sit down for this) "I have loved you with an everlasting Love".  Did you catch that?  Read it again!  God, the maker of the universe, the creator of all man-kind loves me.  Not only that but he "HAS always loved me.  I'm not an English major but I do believe that the word "have" and "loved" are passed tense.  Not only that but the word "everlasting" means forever.  This means no matter who you are, who your parents are, where you live, what your bad or good habits are or how much money you have that God has loved you and will always love you.

What if we tried to let this sentence sink in?  I bet you we:

We wouldn't worry about "being good enough"

We wouldn't care as much about what people think

We wouldn't stress out about whether anyone likes us

We would always know that Someone cares and loves us

Jesus said, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only son to die that who ever would believe and surrender to Him would not die but would live with Him forever in heaven".

No matter who you are, where you've been, who your friends are or anything else for that matter you are LOVED by God.  Know it, accept it and respond to it.

You ARE loved!
