16 4JSUS
During the month of November 2007 I had to awesome opportunity to go on a mission trip to Africa with “Mama” Marguerite Williams, a missionary from Fredericksburg, Virginia. Marguerite Williams is a spirit filled leader and teacher. For 17 years. she has served on the mission fields of East Africa. God called us to conduct leadership seminars in Kenya and Uganda. Marguerite spoke on accountability and I had two jobs to do; one to speak to pastors on the subject of Godly Leadership and the other to tell the story of 164JSUS. With t-shirts and testimonies in hand, pastors and church leaders from Nairobi Kenya, Kampala Uganda, Democratic Republic of the Congo, far West Uganda and Southern Sudan were given copies of Lauren’s testimony and t-shirts.
The list of pastor’s and leaders included Solomon Mukonjo. Solomon is the currently the Bishop of Uganda for the Worldwide Church of God. His church is located in Kampala.
One of the first churches we visited was in a suburb of Kampala Uganda called Bweyogoerere. There, Emmanuel Sunday pastors a church and serves as the director for an orphanage and school. Testimonies and shirts were given to Pastor Sunday during our visit. It has now been almost a year since we were in Uganda and we are seeing fruit from our international efforts for 164JSUS. Recently Pastor Sunday made several request for additional testimonies and shirts. They plan to take the message of 164JSUS to the streets of Kampala Uganda.
Also while in Kampala, I had the pleasure to spend time with a young man who is on fire for the Gospel. His name is Yusuf Kayiwa. I found him to be mature and serious. He and his team have spoken to thousands of young Ugandans about sexual abstinence, the dangers of Hip Hop music and salvation through Jesus. They have also ministered to the Karamoja people of Northern Uganda who are known for not wearing clothes and warrior like beliefs and behavior. Please take a few minutes and go to Yusuf’s website www.giluganda.org. The website provides excellent and timely resources. We look forward to partnering with GIL Uganda to share Lauren’s story.
Please pray for us as we take Lauren’s story around the world.
